About this video
'Pig Oil' is a well kept secret, revealed here by dressage rider, Hannah Biggs. It's actually a mineral oil which was originally used to make pigs shine in the show ring and has been used on heavy horses to keep their feathers silky white and shiny. Hannah shows how to apply it to make your horse's coat gleam and catch the judge's eye! She explains its many uses which, she says, include a treatment for sweet itch, minor cuts and rug rubs, as well as restoring hair. Hannah's PSG dressage horse, 'Beans', models!

Deborahm 6 Sep 2009 Hi there. How do you stop the dust from settling on the surface of the coat once you've applied the oil? My horse gets turned out for a portion of every day, but even when he's in he seems to be a magnet for the dust now that I've started using pig oil. Any advice welcomed!
orin 27 Jul 2009 How often do you apply it?
Anna4munchkin 17 May 2009 That was very useful, I'll get that product tomorrow!
Fiona Price 21 Apr 2009 This video was filmed in the winter hence the horse was clipped. However, some clip all year if the horse in hard work (certain types of competition) and they don't have a thin summer coat.
21 Apr 2009 Why do you clip him all year?
