Dressage, show jumping and eventing all cause soreness hot-spots for competition horses. Equine masseur Beth Butler demonstrates where these are and what massage techniques are useful for relieving them. Beth tells Fiona Price that dressage is a cross between ballet and weight lifting for horses, so they are prone to getting tight in the poll when flexing and in the loins when collecting. Show jumpers use their hamstrings in the quarters and pectorals in the chest for lift-off, and eventers work their quads' when galloping.
