Just thought it would be an idea to suggest other riders/grooms/famous names to be videoed? Showing-wise would be fantastic to see some videos from Lynn Russell and her cobs! Or showjumpers such as Ben Maher or the Whitakers?

We have invtited Lynne Russell to have a Biog and Blog and after lots of chasing, it didn't happen. We could approach her to film in the future but have done quite a lot on showing recently, so will give it a break for a while. We tried to get Ben and a Whitaker and failed miserably! You cannot believe how difficult it is to engage with showjumpers and BSJA (much more difficult than eventers and dressage riders) which, unfortunately, is why there are so few on the site. If you know any high profile show-jumpers and can help us, that would be great! We are trying to reach a few others. A while back Graham Fletcher said we could film with him and Tina, so we may well do this!

Have you tried contacting Shane Breen or Billy Twomey?

Am sure the Fletchers will be more than accomodating.

HOWEVER, if you were to get very stuck then you are more than welcome to come over and I will happily talk your viewers through the high level sport of fourfaultitis, the AGONY of never qualifying for anything, the HORROR of seeing yourself ride on camera, the DISTRESS of realising that even after 30 years of complete and utter dedication you are still crap, the ELATION of not throwing up with nerves before a Newcomers class, the REALISATION that it has been years since you actually jumped a NC class, feeling a FRAUD turning up in a GPA and Pikeur jacket and looking the part but failing at the second (at a Riding Club 3ft class), and the UTTER DISBELIEF that finds yourself saying "lovely day for a hack" :D

Oh no! Personally speaking, as a kid I imagined myself riding round Badminton and am only just coming to terms that I'm too old now, probably don't have the horsepower (though with youngsters you always dream!)and with age have probably lost the nerve anyway! I empathise with the nerves thing and suffering this each time you jump - and for what, you keep asking yourself, if you are never going to be a superstar - it's ridiculous! But we do it because of our love of horses, because of the challenge of improving (though not always as much as we would like), becuase in the scale of things a 2 minute jumping round is tiny part of our relationship with our horse, so it really doesn't matter. And none of those people who are talking about something completely different as you do your round care anyway! The experience is the package! Take heart!

I think that the younger competitors are really inspiring, those on pony and young rider teams. I really enjoy the yard tours and interviews, so more of those would be great!

It would be amazing to have the legend that is Mary King on the site, or how about following an equine dental technician, physio or saddler? Also features on younger equines ie foals, yearlings at different stages of their lives which would be interesting to viewers?

Now I've started ideas are just rolling out!

We are filming with young rider Emily Llewellyn shortly and have been discussing extending our breeding videos to include young stock. Yes, of course, more yard tours. We asked Mary King to be involved on the site (though we didn't ask about filming)- she declined unfortunately. As a rule, because we have limited people on the ground, we try to keep most of our filming to Gloucestershire. Emily is an exception as are big events, such as Express Eventing this weekend and Olympia at Xmas. Keep the ideas coming. As you say, once you start, it's endless! But we are trying to keep a wide brief and there is so much of interest!

Doing something with Spencer Wilton? I really enjoyed that short clip of him teaching the girl on the grey horse. I liked that they made some mistakes (like anyone - except Arthur Kottas - would) and Spencer just dealt with it matter of factly. Mr. Wilton has a good set of lungs as well as good eyes on the ground, so easy to hear and understand too! Just a thought from Canada! Heck any dressage training clip that doesn't feature piles of snow and ice crashing off the arena roof is a bonus for us Canadians!

Definitely add to and expand, as much as you possibly can, the training section. Especially dressage or even just general riding, like performing simple movements/warming up/working through the stages/ etc. It's so interesting to watch the more ''professional'' rider school rather than competitions. Also what would be really great is have training sessions on 'problems' such as overcoming everyday riding issues like; spooking, tense horses, evasions, evading aids, behind the leg... you get my drift. Even having another bit totally geared towards training/schooling a young horse would be interesting I think. As for further riders, what about Carl Hester? He's in Gloucestershire.

What about a "how to" video on riding with spurs and the correct way to use them?

How about dealing with various problems e.g. loading, bucking, rearing, napping, bad to clip etc with maybe Richard Maxwell or Kelly Marks (who I know has already done quite a bit on here)

I am a big fan on how to do thing properly i.e grooming, tacking up etc... I was wondering if you could do one on tack cleaning? Ohh and would LOVE it if Carl Hester could do some videos (BIG fan of dressage!!!).

A video explaining what to look at with a horse's back when fitting a saddle given backs and withers are so different? How to measure for the right fit etc.

Good idea - thinking of Richard Maxwell, he would be great to get on here (plus I think he events, so could add a little to that). I think having more of Kelly Marks and anything with Richard Maxwell would be seriously interesting.

Hi guys - I am new to the site (love the videos!) so I hope I am not repeating something already suggested. I would love to see a video that explains the correct way to train for lengenthened strides at the trot through to medium trot and extended trot. Ditto at the canter. At the moment I feel as though all I am accomplishing with my horse is to either have him running out of his rhythm or falling on his forehand. So can we please have a look at how as amateur riders, we can train lengthened strides. It might be a help to explain when you train it, and then how to train it from the start,ie from horses (like mine)that have no idea to those that do and what to do when things go wrong.
Many thanks - KathieW

I think the site is great and the videos are really informative. I would find a video on how to tie a stock really useful as I just can't do it!

I love all the videos. Very informative and fun! I was wondering how you do those plaits that sort of stick up above the crest. I've seen them done well and done badly and I would love to know how they're done. Where on earth do you stand for instance? I saw someone at the Petplan finals sitting on their horse bareback with horse's head at high level with haynet, and stretching up to get them in place. I can't imagine this is only way! A video would be brilliant. Also I've called them 'chimneypot' plaits 'cos I don't know what they're really called!

Are there any video's on riding side saddle? I'd love to know more about that, becasue there is a lot of tradition involved. Also it always looks very gracfull!

Any chance of a carriage driver having a blog on the site? There are some great up and coming young drivers on the scene. Also would be great to hear from the four in hand drivers with Britain biding to hold the World Four in Hand Championships in 2012. Some videos would be great as well. I realise it's a specialised area but is a great discipline.
