Eventing is a sport at which the British excel. Our teams bring home dozens of championship medals and thousands of people compete across the country every weekend. The sport has its issues, eg. recent safety concerns but the magic and the exceptional bond between horse and rider endures. Use this forum to let others know what you think about anything and everything to do with eventing.
What breed for eventing?
Hi Steph02
No one can tell you whether you and your proposed horse are going to prove to be Badminton winners.

Cross country boots
I have a set of NEW cross country boots which are non heating, but you need to be careful fitting them , because they have no stretch in them, they will protect from interference injury as they are re-enforced with hard plastic up the back of the cannon bone in front.

So this year the cross country was way more influential than in the past couple of years I think.

What eventing skull cap to wear?
Hi Pola I do not know the skull you are thinking of, but if you have trouble keeping a silk on a helmet some self-adhesive Velcro stuck on the helmet and on the inside of the silk works wonders at keeping it in place.

Hats off to the Brits at the Europeans
It was great to see the Brits being such a cut above the rest!

Posting diagonals
I often ride on the 'wrong' diagonal on the right rein as my mare tends to fall out through the outside shoulder.

Express Eventing - love it or hate it?!
Such a shame that the first ever event was marred by such an unortunate string of events.

All year eventing
Getting events to run in the north is hard enough, I'm talking from Witton up, and that's in the summer due to bad weather.

5* - why on earth?
I remember as a young photographer going to the Auckland 3DE when they had a training class (equal to novice) it was held amongst and along with the higher levels, bit I have so many pic of people falling off and overall bad riding (due to a lack of experience and pressure) while it was good for the likes of Mark Todd to get some experience into his young horses for the avarage person the pressure was too great.

Matt Ryan to become a Brit?
I agree that Matt is an outstanding athlete and rider, worthy of representing his country, which ever that may be.

Preparation for the Olympics
I'm sure the riders running at Barbury wanted to keep their horses tuned before the big event.
