About this video
4* event rider, Polly Williamson at her Wiltshire yard, with Laura Bechtolsheimer presenting. Polly explains when she uses exercise bandages as opposed to boots and demonstrates how to apply them. The day we filmed it was pouring with rain so, for this clip, we took shelter under a beautiful arch in her quadrangle yard. First, Polly has to get her very tired eventer out of bed to do the job. Very sweet!

Polly Williamson’s tips for bandaging for exercise

  • Exercise bandages are useful if the horse has a boot rub or if the leg has been clipped for a scan. The bandage won’t rub the leg like an exercise boot would.
  • If done properly, bandages can offer more support than boots. If done incorrectly, a bandage can do more harm than good!
  • Polly prefers to put a small bandage pad or fibagee under the bandage to keep the pressure more even.

star 30 Jun 2008 I'm glad this video brought up the fact that bandaging can cause harm if not done properly; great tips here.
